About

My films focus on the drama found in ordinary, everyday situations. Something as simple as a dance party, or a moment in the mirror, can have quite a significant effect on one’s existence. Therefore, in this scope, filmmaking is a medium that reveals the inner, more intimate layers of our reality, a visual glimpse into making the implicit explicit. The power of this medium resides in this poetry, as poetry, being one of the most powerful states of art, prevails through its simplicity. Adopting this simplicity, my films can be interpreted intimately for every viewer, whenever they need them.

About

I learned the power of communication through journalism. I studied journalism in Monterrey City, Mexico, and embarked on what turned out to be an extensive career in television, radio and marketing. However, there was something missing. I wanted to create. Drawn to the free spirit of European cinema – namely, the minimal, existential focal point of New Wave – I enrolled in the Editing Department of the Film Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). I wanted to learn more about crafting films, the subtleties behind seemingly mundane shots. Combining my background with FAMU’s courses, I gained the tools necessary to develop my own voice.

About

My latest project, “What Would You Like To See?” is a 20 minute culmination of this experience. The story follows a young woman who struggles with everyday expectations. She is neither wealthy nor exceptionally beautiful. She is average. Her struggle evokes the feeling of marginalia felt deep within the struggle to be normal. This is what I try to capture in my films.

“What Would You Like to See?” premiered as part of the inaugural screening of the 2019, “La Película,” Film Festival in Prague. The film also won the Best Student Short Film award at the 2019 Oaxaca Film Festival. I am currently finishing a Master’s of Editing Program at FAMU and have been developing a screenplay for feature film.
